Well-Water Treatment System Installation

Contract Renewal Fosters Win-Win Collaboration

To Be Our Customers’ Preferred Choice” is a core Nooter Construction Company value and well illustrated through the recent project completed for a valued and esteemed Nooter customer.

Project Manager Kevin Staats managed the comprehensive well-water treatment system installation at a hydroelectric power plant in northern Maryland. “This project presented several unique challenges, including high-risk safety and environmental elements that required detailed supervision and thorough management,” said Staats.

Due to Nooter’s reputation for completing projects on time, on budget, and with the highest levels of safety and quality, this customer has a “Contractor of Choice” (COC) agreement in place with the Nooter Construction Company.

According to Staats, “The COC agreement and positive past experiences gave us an edge over other bidders in securing this project.”

Partnership Environment Overcomes Project Complexity

Nooter was tasked with erecting a new well-water treatment building; installing water treatment equipment; excavating 4,000 feet of trenches for piping, conduit, electrical cable, and fiber optics; and chemically treating the new system in conjunction with the owner’s Environmental and Operations personnel.

The scope of work was a little out of the norm for us admits Nooter Superintendent Brian Galbraith. “This was an exciting project due to its design complexity and unexpected obstacles. Our excellent track record with the client, made Nooter an excellent choice for this one of a kind project.”

Due to a renewed COC agreement with the client, Nooter became the trusted entity when the bid was decided. “This gave us an additional opportunity to demonstrate our versatile capabilities with this customer,” explains Galbraith.

Both Nooter and the client have high safety and environmental performance goals. Over the duration of the seven-month project, Nooter experienced only two minor first-aid incidents, zero environmental events, and came in under the owner’s revised budget, cementing the overall project as a success.

Nooter continues to play an important role for the power company’s maintenance department through the COC agreement. From helping work management with project planning and paperwork to being on call 24x7x365, Nooter adds project value through
core competencies that deliver bottom-line results for the customer.
